Friday of last week we received 3 dump truck loads, close to 60 tons, of river sand to put in the arena. We’ve had a number of people say that this has been done every few years and that it helps keep the clay from getting so hard and clumpy. I’ve been plowing every few days for months now, so the clumpy clay isn’t much of a problem unless I put down water and don’t plow at all, but it seems like it might help so what the heck.

It took a few hours to spread it out and I’m still plowing it into the dirt, but it is going pretty good. At the moment the dirt is pretty deep but will be adding water this afternoon and hopefully will start getting mixed in better each day.
